Man beats up “kangaroo Jackie Chan” in house
“At first, he (my husband) thought it was a lunatic ninja,” said Ettlin’s wife, Verity Beman. “It leaped through the window, this martial-arts kind of figure. It was very Jackie Chan.”
I laughed pretty loud this moring at work after read this…
“Employers cut 651,000 jobs in February, bringing total job losses over the last six months to more than 3.3 million, CNNMoney reports. The unemployment rate rose to 8.1 percent, the highest reading since December 1983.”
Hopefully, this is the beginning of the “worse before it gets better” rhetoric.
Today has been a nice day. I have not done much besides eat, sleep, go to church, and read. I took a break from reading for class and I had some old articles I have been meaning to read for a couple of days. I started reading one about Afganistan and that reminded me about the Presidential and Vice Presidental debates.
Thinking about the future started to scare me. How what we are doing now is helping and harming our image around the world. Being someone who has stuided history, I would imagine my view would be different from people who do not know as much, especially about the Middle East, which is where our politics seem to be afixed the most at this time.
I then go over to cnn.com and the top news story is “Saudi host Afghan peace talks with Taliban reps“. I’m glad to see the Saudia Arabia is trying to help, granted the Taliban still consider them an enemy. They were the original enemy, before it became way more conviente to focus on the USA. Anyway, looks like Iran is trying to gain greater influence in the region. I wonder why they are concerned about their neighbors, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
In more personal news, I am almost/starting to get there/finished moving in, but not really. The condo is starting to look like a home. Furniture has now been delivered and put in place. One more room and part of a hallway needs to be painted, then I can fully move in. I will be going up to the farm to get a few things, then hopefully I will be completely moved in within the week! It just depends on how much work gets done in the evening after work. It will be nice, and weird, to be out on my own.
The last two weeks have been kind of crazy. Lots of work, but Congress is over and I get to relax a little. Hard work does pay off
This is genius btw: time.com
Thanks to B-rad, who I think got it from drudge (the only news source he looks at), I am sharing this fun article about Obama: Obama to get Hanuman idol
Best quote: “Obama has deep faith in Lord Hanuman and that is why we are presenting an idol of Hanuman to him”
Other news:
“Saudi Arabia has over the past six months arrested 701 people suspected of plotting attacks, officials have said.” I’m still surprised Saudi Arabia is as “stable” as it is. No overthrow and revolt yet.
Religion is always an interesting topic:

I won’t expand any at this time. It’s dinner time.
Reading and watching some news this week, I’ve seen a lot of stories about the off-shore drilling debate and whether or not it needs to be lifted. I have not felt like doing research, but these are some of the things I’ve heard about the issue.
It would be at least 10 years (one source said 20) before we would see the oil in our cars. The oil companies already have access to 80% of the oil reserves off our shores(the new areas they are asking for would give them most of the 20% left), they just choose not to drill. It would cost billions and billions of dollars to drill that far out and deep, why not use that money in wind, solar, geo-thermal power? I think they can build better platforms (European nations have them) so I don’t think it would cause an environmental hazard, unless there was an accident (how big of a risk?). Depending on location, it might be an eye sore. Apparently, the United States controls less than 3 percent of global oil and gas deposits, but it accounts for 25 percent of world oil consumption.
Anyway, I think it is just the powers that be (big oil) and this administration trying to fool the American people and make them believe this is a good idea (before Jan 09) and that it will help us. Sure, if 15 years down the road we still have cars like we do today. I sure hope not though.
Just food for thought. :p Lucky for them, if they want to kill the debate quick, this just came out: Saudi’s increase production levels
Addition: This guy had done his research on the subject: To Drill or Not to Drill?
I’ve been trolling around the sports sites today looking for news and the following links are some of what I found:
App football and QB Armanti Edwards, here.
USA Today has a wonderful article about Appalachian. It gets deeper into our story. USA Today
Reading this makes me a little nervous about tomorrow night. I’m nervous no matter what. People expect a lot out of us, especially beating Michigan and winning the last two national championships. This year, we have a lot more to lose than just one game.
