So, I just finished watching the season finales of Grey’s and Lost. This goes out to the producers: F you for making me wait until September. Lost wasn’t that bad, it will be exciting to see where they take it. I think next season is the last season though… either next year or the one after that. I didn’t quite see what happened on Grey’s coming. Granted, nothing is for sure, but it kind of appears like it. And if you followed the news from a couple months ago saying certain people might not be back, but I guess we all will have to wait and see.
Hmmm, when was the last time I posted…. end of April. Since then I’ve gone back to see my sister and her family, I’ve worked a lot, met a few new people, caught up with friends from high school, and have generally been having a good time. The Hurricanes have been doing well in the playoffs. For fore nights a week for the last few weeks my time has been devoted to watching them play. Hopefully they can keep up the good work and beat Pittsburgh to make it to the Stanley Cup finals. Brad and I have also started to play tennis more. Exercise is good. Staying up late during the week for the last couple of weeks has been a drainer, but its well worth it. The last episode of Grey’s drove the point home that people need to take advantage of the time they are given and not to take things for granted.
I am concerned about the state of NC’s budget though. We have to come up with 5 billion dollars out of next year’s budget? That’s like a 1/4 of the budget. State employee’s are going to get hit hard. Rumors are 20 – 35 days of furlough and 5 – 20% salary reduction. The old saying of a job is better than no job is true I guess, just as long as it pays the bills. The next 2 or 3 years should be interesting times as a state worker.
If you haven’t seen Star Trek, go check it out. I enjoyed it better than Wolverine. I’d like to see Terminator, which opens next weekend. Ok, I’ll stop rambling. I need to go to bed so I can wake up to go to church in the morning. I’ll check back in in a couple of days (or weeks).

I’m whoring it out on twitter. It’s so weird to be able to follow famous people and it’s actually them. I found Miley Cyrus before Buddy did and he is like obsessed with her. She’s in Spain, premiering her movie. We are best friends.
Anyway, I’m all over some twitter now. Follow me, I’m cool:
In other news, the Hurricanes had a great vicotry tonight. It was a close one, but a win is a win. Now they just need to win 2 of the next 3 to advance to the next round. Of course, I chose to watch the hockey game instead of homework, but I’ll get it finished tomorrow. I’ll be in Concord Thursday night for the 4-H Lifetime Achievement Awards. I’ll spend the weekend with my sister, then head up to the farm for a family reunion on my mother’s side (and father’s if you go back far enough and over a few branches).
Night all <3
Also, Miss California and Parez Hilton need to shut up, they are stealing the thunder from Miss North Carolina, the 2009 Miss USA winner.
So, I’m currently not sure how I am going to lay out the tales of the last week + of my life. I think I will have to split this entry into a few posts.
My previous post showed excitement for a person named Steve, who was coming to visit. I met Steve through a few friends at university. Funny thing is; he is from Canada.
This was his second trip to North Carolina, he came and visited us a year and a half ago, in March.
Steve flew into town last Thursday evening. A friend and I went to the airport to pick him up, not knowing which flight he was coming in on or the terminal, but thanks to some smarts and a bit of luck, we found him without any problems. When we left the airport with the Canadian, we went to our friend mom’s house where she cooked a bunch of us dinner. It was quite scrumptious. We hung out for a while there, then went and got ice cream (apparently they do not have extra good chocolate milkshakes in Canada like they do down here). After ice cream and hanging out, we broke apart to our respective residences to get some sleep because all of us had to work the next day.
The next time I saw the Canadian was Friday evening. A group of us (8) attended the Carolina Hurricanes hockey game, to see them lose horribly 7-4. This season, it’s normally been the other way around, but oh well. They ended up winning Saturday night 8-3. We also had some others from out of town come to the game. Despite the loss, it was a lot of fun.
After the game, some of the group left to travel to where most of us went/go to college. I went home and went to bed because I had to get up early the next morning to travel to volunteer at a Girl Scout camp in the mountains of NC; something I used to do a lot while in college.
I arrived at the camp Saturday around lunch time, which was perfect timing. Everyone had just made it back to the main area to eat lunch. It was very nice to see everyone. I hadn’t seen most of them for a couple of months. It was nice to meet the new pledges as well.
After we all ate, we went back to work. I worked on the splitting/stacking/chopping/unloading wood team. I consider myself a semi-professional when it comes to wood. Since I was a wee lad, my father and extended family have always warmed homes with wood stoves. I used to help my family cut, stack, and load wood. I rather enjoy it actually. It’s a good work out and you actually accomplish something by the end of the day.
Anyway, we worked for a few hours, then cleaned up and ate dinner. After dinner, I hung out for a while, did some interviews, caught up with old friends, and then headed up the mountain to university to meet with everyone else from the day before.
