It’s been a long time since I got 12 hours of sleep in one night.  I guess working two weeks straight will make you tired enough.  It was great to wake up this morning at 10 feeling good and ready to go.  It’s also nice because I need to work on my paper more, plus there is a lot of football on tv I want to watch.

Yesterday I came across a few articles about people losing their jobs because of facebook.  I googled myself and my facebook profile was 5th on the list.  Now, I did not do a spicific search, I just typed my name, and there are a ton of people that have my name, both dead and alive.  I don’t remember the last time I googled myself, but I sure as heck was not on the first couple of pages, let alone the top five results.  The odd think is though, when I do more targeted searches, like including the word facebook, my profile doesn’t seem to show up, this website shows up on the first page though.  Kind of strange… the wonders of the internet/google.

Anyway, hope all is well with you guys.  Time to work on the paper some more and get ready to watch football!  I watched the Duke basketball game last night and they are looking pretty good.  UNC is good as always.  NC State and Davidson play Dec. 6th.  We’ll see how the pack handles that one.  Appalachian only plays Davidson once in basketball, which is good for App.  Speaking of App, I think there game today against Western is televised.  The playoffs start next weekend and the playoff seed show is Sunday night on ESPN U.  Can App make it 4 National Championships in a row?  We’ve been looking good the last 7/8 games, considering we’ve won them all!   If we win today, we will be undefeated in our conference, which doesn’t happen very often.

I forgot to mention, Wofford won their football game today against Montana, by one point.  Yeah, it was close as well.  Montana was 11-0 going into the game, but apparently they had a cupcake schedule all year.  Who knows, today was my first time watching them play (Thanks Tral!)  Wofford got lucky though at the end (just like App, who got a near the end zone late game turnover by the other team).  Montana had a chance to win it in the last few seconds with a field goal, but their kicker missed it.

Goodness, Duke just almost got two turnovers in a row.  They had two already from UNC but man, I’m starting to like UNC’s QB.  Keep sucking Yates.  UNC fans are acting like it’s a big game because it’s so close.  That would be funny as crap if “higher than you no matter what” UNC lost to a Duke team that barely won one game this season.  I would love it and I would die a happy man.

Wofford advance to the second round of the playoffs too.  It would be wonderful it App and Wofford met again, granted, App better win this time time.   If both App and Wofford win their next games, they meet for the semi-finals.  Should be a good game, but I might be regretting this post in a few weeks.  ESPN needs to start giving us some respect.  :P

Ahahahaha, I love seeing Duke football beating up on UNC.  That’s what I get for growing up in this region, I guess.

So yeah, I’ve pretty much been useless the last two days. The only thing I’ve been good at is cleaning up and watching football.

I almost died today, at least my heart felt like it. I still do not know how Appalachian won the football game today. Game Recap.

Appalachian has won the last two FCS (Div 1-AA) Football championships the last two years. No one has ever won it three years in a row, which is what we are trying to do. We should have lost the game today. James Madison ran over us all day. We could not stop them. That’s been a problem a few other games this year, when we face someone that has a spread offense like our own, our young defense has a hard time stopping the other team. Our offense has never had much problems, except for turnovers at inconvenient times, but our defense sometimes struggles.

And get this, Duke is tied with UNC at halftime, 7-7. That’s crazy. Duke is actually playing pretty well. I have been rather impressed.  If Duke wins today, then all my luck for the next couple of years is spent.  App barely wins and Duke wins, it’d be crazy.

Anyway, I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  :)   Learn, love, and be happy.

I kind of forgot to mention my inspiration for the previous post: I attended the Duke football game today. Had fun, got sunburned, good food, and good times, too bad VT beat us. :P

Today is Saturday, a very wonderful day. I’ve grown up watching sports and throughly enjoy watching and participating in them.

Some of my earliest sports memories involve Bobby Hurley and the Duke University basketball team. I guess I was either five or six years old at the time. I assume I was drawn to the Blue Devils because of their mascot, the color blue, or because they were just on tv. Who’d a thought that a seemingly small decision at such a young age would affect a life in such a way? I like to say I’ve been a Duke fan for life, but who really knows? I can’t recall that far back. Anyway, I have no clue where I’m going with this, but yeah, information is good, right?

For the past eleven or twelve seasons, I’ve been attending Duke home football games. Basketball tickets have been impossible to obtain for like my whole life, so I get as close as I can to the basketball stadium, I guess. I have actually attended like two games at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Why is it called a stadium anyway? It can only fit like 4,000 people, it’s hot, and was built like sixty years ago. Clickie But it’s totally awesome. Anyway, the football team at Duke has more or less sucked the last decade or so. (Yay, the Carolina Hurricanes just scored (2-1) against Montreal) Despite their suckieness, Duke actually won a game earlier this season (yay!), something that alluded them all last season. Your luck eventually turns up, I guess. I’m going to go ahead a make a bold prediction, Duke is going to have a .500 season next year or the year after that.

I think they can. It’s bound to happen sooner or later. We’ve been in some pretty close games this season. We’ve lost two high-scoring games this season, almost beat Miami last season, and lost to both UNC and Wake Forest (the eventual ACC Camps) by one point last season. So, we’ve almost been there, it just hasn’t happened yet. That is why I think we will actually win multiple games in the next year or two. We need a new kicker though, god we do. Thankfully, he is a senior and will be gone next season.

Anyone watch LSU lose in triple OT to Kentucky? I love college sports. Way better than professional. Time to go finish watching the Hurricanes game. From what I’ve seen this season, they are a pretty strong team. Last season, after winning the Stanly Cup in 2005, was a let down, but the same thing happened in 2002 when they lost in the finals. The season after that stunk. That’s just how they are I guess. I’d take another Stanly cup championship this season though. :)
