50/50 tie?!?! Will the primary election end tomorrow?!?! Yay political drama!
She’ll probably end up winning by 10 to 15,000? Only 91% reported so far.
May 6, 2008, primary day in North Carolina. I wouldn’t have guessed (probably in earlier posts) that Obama would win NC by double digits. 14%, 220,000+ votes. That’s crazy. It does help Obama that 40% of registered democratic voters in NC are African American, which I would guess voted for him 9 times out of 10.
Currently, Clinton is only ahead by 40,000 votes in Indiana. I guess that’s about where I guessed it would end up, a few percentage points.
Most of my info is from cnn.com.
This map tells a great deal of information. Results by county. Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro, Durham are the most populated cities/areas of the state. Those are all connected by interstates, which equals population. Same thing out to the East, interstate I-95 cuts through the state in that area. To the West, in the mountains, the two Obama counties are college counties, Appalachian State and Western Carolina Universities.
The results keep constant with what has happened before. Hillary wins rural areas and Obama wins populated areas. This is all pretty dang exciting. I can’t wait for November, but I have a bad feeling, lol. Oh well, it’s a long way off.
This afternoon after work, I played tennis for a while and hung out with new people. We then went to Char Grill for food and drinks, then to North Carolina State University’s Reynolds Coliseum, where Obama gave his victory speech. The doors opened at 8 pm and we arrived a little after 9 pm. It was pretty cool
Lots of people filled half the old basketball arena. We were about half way down the side and had a good view of the whole area and podium.
Quick tangent, I “like” the new DNC ad that has come out recently. The one associating McCain with President Bush and McCain saying “100 years [in Iraq] would be fine” with him. I do not get it, unless it is too early for people to give a crap, how McCain is doing so well when he is 1. Republican and 2. Supports a very unpopular war. It could be the lesser of two equals, but what do I know.
Another side road, I find it odd that one county in Indiana, a very populated county near Chicago, has yet to release it’s tallies. Kind of crazy….
Anyway, happy voting day, I need to go to bed! <3
NC State makes the news: Chelsea Clinton at NC State
It will be neat to see more of NC in the press in the coming weeks, especially after Penn. votes. I saw my frist tv ad a few days ago, one for Obama.
One other thing, who the hell came up with the dumb idea of “Hillblazers.” I know I am not everyone that sees it, but when I first saw it, I saw “Hill” and “bl” which equaled hillbilly. Good job brain shortcuts.
Hillary, it won’t work. You need to start enticing on the hearts and emotions of the people if you want more votes.
