Hi all.  I’m sitting here on the couch at our condo at Atlantic Beach.  A vacation was a good idea.  Besides the weekend trip to Atlanta and a few trips to my grandparents, this is the first time all year I’ve actually took a few days off from work.  I think they are surviving without me, I didn’t receive a phone call Monday asking me questions.

Its been good here the last few days.  In the mid 80s intead of the upper 90s like the rest of the state.  It has been sunny and clear up until today.  Its been dark all day, but the rain didn’t move in until mid afternoon.  Its been nice to sit on the beach, read, and play in the ocean and pool.  Classes start a week from today.  Not fun, but hopefully the class will be cool and not too much work.  Its kinda strange that I can’t find anything to watch on TV…  my mom is here beside me reading and father is in a bedroom sleeping, something he does very well while watching tv.  Is family fued worth watching…  no, I don’t think so.

Time to continue to lounge around and do nothing  :)   Looks like the rainy weather is going to stick around through Friday so we’ll be shopping and might go see a movie or something to kill the time.  bye all  <3

I got into town after the tournament, packed a few things, and then headed over to Phil’s house. Once everyone arrived their, we headed to eat with Whitney, then most of us headed toward the coast. The area of Morehead City, Atlantic Beach, and Emerald Isle, NC is a very pleasant place to take a vacation.

We made it there late Monday night, hung out at the house for a while, and then went to sleep. We are old men now, we like our sleep. We awoke to Phil making yummy breakfast. We all then went out to the beach for some fun in the sun and not so much fun in the cool ocean water. I had never been to the beach in late October, but it was a beautiful day. Lower 70s, cool breeze, plenty of sun. It was a great way to have fun and relax. After spending time on the beach, we headed across the road to the house, got ready and packed, and then stopped to get some lunch. If you are ever in Emerald Isle, you should try Big Oaks. It’s a good little locally owned join with different goodies to choose from. After eating lunch, we hit the road back to Raleigh.

Two and a half hours later, we were in Raleigh, saying our goodbyes to a few, while the rest of us grabbed a buger, fries, and a milkshake.  We then headed back to our respective homes to get some rest.

When I arrived at school, everyone was still involved in the day activity:  AppalachLAN VIII.  While in college, I had a large circle of friends who all played video games.  A few of them, well mainly one, took the initiative to try to start a club on campus based around gaming, every kind of gaming.  He was smart and proposed it as a way to let gamers meet in person instead of just over the internet.  The university must have liked it and the Gaming Club came into existence and still holds strong today.

Every semester, the club holds two or three large LAN (local area network) events where people from across the southeast, northeast, and sometimes Canada, gather to have a good time and meet people in real life.

When I arrived, the LAN was beginning to wrap up.  I hung out for a while, helped people pack up, grabbed some food, and then headed to the after party.  One of the girls in the club is very special to us all because she loves to have a ton of people over to have a good time, and she lets some of us sleep at her place as well.  We love her very much for this.  Thank you Whitney :)

Once we arrived at Whit’s, there was already a ton of people their and of course, 95% of them were males, but hey, we are used to it.  We have some toke core females and every-now-and-then we have one that shows up, whom may or may not be wearing a bikini she made.  It was spectacularly nice.

Anyway, we all had a marvelous time and eventually got to bed around 4 in the morning.  We cooked breakfast once we all arose, hung out some more, drove to the top of a near by mountain, hung out and enjoyed the view, ate dinner and went bowling, then the majority of us left, for the next day was Monday, the start of the work week.

I had to get up extra early Monday morning because I had a golf tournament that day.  After the wonderful weekend, 5 am was a very rude awakening.  I made it out to the course at 7 to help set up and get ready for registration.  Most of the golfers showed up and everything went off with out a glitch.  It was quiet nice and the course was beautiful.  Million dollar homes lined the 27 hole course.  I was very impressed.

I received a phone call while out at the course asking if I would like to go to the beach for the night.  Luckily I have extremely good and understanding bosses.  I had already planned on taking Wednesday of that week off to go to Camp Lejeune, now I needed Tuesday and Wednesday off.  I was told to go and have a good time because I had done a job well done with setting up the golf tournament.  Sweet.
